Resage is a Mac reading app for the files you already own - EPUB, PDF and more - with an AI companion that reads alongside you. The core design decision: the AI stays silent by default. An earlier version volunteered explanations as you read, and every single tester turned it off. People want to read first and ask second. So the book gets the whole window like a normal e-reader, and the AI waits in a side panel until you select a passage or ask something. Why it is not just pasting a chapter into a chatbot: - Anchored to your text. Answers point back to the actual page and passage in front of you. When the book does not support an answer, it says so instead of filling the gap with something plausible. - It learns how you read.
