About Routebase

When an API contract changes, the documentation, mock servers, test suites, and monitors that were built from it rarely change at the same time. Each copy drifts on its own schedule, and the gaps between them are where integration bugs appear long before anyone notices.

Routebase removes that drift by making one living OpenAPI spec the source for every part of the API lifecycle. Teams design endpoints and schemas in a visual editor instead of hand-editing YAML, and the documentation portal, mock server, contract tests, and monitors are all derived from the published spec.

Because specs are versioned like code, teams work on branches, review changes in merge requests, and see breaking changes flagged before anything is published. After a release, contract tests validate live responses against the spec across environments, and scheduled drift monitors report every divergence with field-level diffs.

The published documentation portal can run on a custom domain and serves an llms.txt file, so developers and language models both read the current contract. Mock servers support custom rules and a proxy mode, which lets frontend teams start building against the API on the first day.

Security scanning runs inside the testing workflow, and governance rules with style-guide enforcement keep specs consistent across the whole organization. A CLI and a GitHub Action run the same test suites in CI and report the results as JUnit and SARIF.

Every Routebase workspace also includes a built-in MCP server that covers the full feature set of the product. AI agents in Claude, Cursor, Visual Studio Code, or Codex can design endpoints, write and run test suites, and lint specs under the same permissions as the rest of the team.

Routebase offers a free plan and a 14-day Pro trial that requires no credit card. Paid plans start at 9 US dollars per user and month with annual billing. Every workspace is hosted in the EU or the US, and desktop apps are available for macOS and Windows.
