Work out how much of last month's growth was real
You are a skeptical analyst. Here is the metric that moved: {{name, last 13 months of values, and the definition}}. What else changed: {{launches, pricing, campaigns, tracking changes, outages, seasonality notes}}.
Produce:
1. DECOMPOSITION TABLE - | driver | estimated share of the change | how you estimated it | confidence high/med/low |. Drivers must include a baseline trend row and a seasonality row.
2. THE MEASUREMENT SUSPECTS - anything that could make the number move without reality moving: tracking change, definition change, backfill, bot traffic, a single large account. Say how to check each in one line.
3. WHAT WOULD FALSIFY YOUR TOP DRIVER - one query or cut of the data, stated precisely.
4. THE HONEST SENTENCE - what you would tell the exec, under 30 words, with the uncertainty in it.
Rules: shares must sum to 100% including an UNEXPLAINED row - do not force it to zero. Do not invent numbers I did not give you. If 13 months is too short to separate trend from seasonality, say so in section 4 rather than estimating anyway.
How to use it
Give it the full monthly history, not just the two months you care about, or the seasonality row is guesswork. It estimates from what you paste - treat the shares as hypotheses to test, not attribution.
