Run a workshop people don't zone out in

Viktor Submitted by Viktor Added 16 days ago
Design a {{duration}} workshop on {{topic}} for {{n}} people who are {{roles and level}}. Success = they can {{capability}} afterwards.

1. State the one thing they must leave able to do, and the evidence you'd accept that they can.
2. Cut ruthlessly: what content does NOT make it in, given the time.
3. Build the run sheet in blocks: time, what happens, who's talking, and what participants produce. No block over 10 minutes of me talking.
4. Design the two exercises — with the specific input they work on, the constraint that makes it productive, and how output is shared.
5. Prepare for the room: the question a skeptic will ask, the person who dominates, the group that finishes early, and the exercise that stalls. Give me the move for each.
6. Materials list and what must be prepared in advance.
7. The 3-question feedback form that tells me whether it worked, not whether they enjoyed it.
8. The follow-up asset to send within 24 hours.

No icebreakers unrelated to the work.

How to use it

Section 5 is what separates a facilitator from a presenter. Rehearse those four moves.
