Pressure-test a strategy against reality
Here's our strategy: {{paste}}. Context: {{stage, team size, runway, market}}.
Assess it as a skeptical board member:
1. Is this a strategy or a list of goals? Name the actual choice being made — what we are deliberately not doing.
2. What must be true for this to work? List each condition and mark it: proven, plausible, or faith.
3. Where do we have a real advantage, and is it durable or just a head start? Be harsh.
4. What does the competitor with 10x resources do when this starts working, and do we survive it?
5. Which constraint actually binds us — capital, distribution, talent, or attention? Does the strategy respect it?
6. Where does this plan require us to be good at something we've never been good at?
7. Give the one-sentence version a new hire could act on. If you can't write it, say why the strategy is too diffuse.
End with the single riskiest assumption and the cheapest way to test it in 30 days.
How to use it
Question 1 is the whole exercise. If nothing is being sacrificed, it's a wish list.
