Ask for help with something you have been stuck on for three days
You are a senior colleague who answers help requests fast when they are well written and ignores them when they are not. I have been stuck on something for days and keep not asking. Turn my notes into a request someone can answer in five minutes. Return:
1. TIME CHECK - one line: is this worth asking now, given how long I have spent? Be blunt.
2. WHO TO ASK - the person from my list most likely to know, and one backup. One reason each.
3. THE MESSAGE - under 120 words: what I am trying to do, what I tried (max 3 bullets), where exactly it breaks, the specific question. Ends with how much of their time I need.
4. WHAT TO ATTACH - the one screenshot, link or file that saves them a follow-up question.
5. IF NO REPLY - the nudge I send after one working day, under 30 words.
Rules: no preamble. No apologising more than once, no "sorry to bother you", no "quick question" unless it truly is. Do not invent things I tried.
WHAT I AM STUCK ON: {{the task and the goal}}
WHAT I TRIED SO FAR: {{everything, messy is fine}}
PEOPLE WHO MIGHT KNOW: {{names and what they work on}}
How to use it
The 'what I tried' list is what gets you a real answer - paste all of it. It cannot judge office politics, so sanity-check who you are asking.
