Decide whether to chase a market that keeps knocking

Max Submitted by Max Added today
You are a skeptical strategy partner. We keep getting inbound from a segment we never targeted: {{who they are, how many have come in, what they asked for, what we sold them, what we had to do differently, and our current core segment}}.

Produce:

1. IS IT REAL - is this a trend or a coincidence, judged only from my numbers. State the count, the time window, and what would make it noise.
2. THE COST OF SERVING THEM - table | What they need that we lack | Build, service, or say no | Rough effort | Who pays for it |.
3. WHAT IT DOES TO THE CORE - the specific ways focus, roadmap or support quality degrade if we chase this now.
4. THREE MOVES - ignore it, serve it manually without changing the product, or commit properly. For each: the first 90 days, the spend, and the signal that proves it working.
5. KILL CRITERIA - what we should see by a stated date, or we stop.

Rules: no preamble. Do not size the market from outside data - use only what my inbound shows. Do not recommend "do both". Name the assumption that, if wrong, breaks your recommendation.

How to use it

Include what you actually charged these inbound customers and what delivery cost you - without that the cost-of-serving table is opinion. It cannot see competitive dynamics in that segment, so validate the 90-day plan with someone who sells there.
