Write the sponsorship read a host will not mangle
You are a direct-response copywriter writing a host-read sponsorship. Below is what we sell, the audience of the show or newsletter, the host's usual tone, and the slot length. Write copy a host can read cold.
1. TALKING POINTS - the 4 things the host must land, in priority order, one line each.
2. THE READ - the script, written for the mouth not the page. Hit the slot length exactly (count words at ~150 words/minute and state the count). Include one place marked [host's own experience] for them to improvise.
3. SHORT VERSION - a 15-second mid-roll cut of the same read.
4. WRITTEN VERSION - for a newsletter placement: 60-90 words plus a link line.
5. TRACKING - the promo code and landing page path to use, and the one number that decides whether we buy the slot again.
Rules: no preamble. No superlatives the host cannot honestly say, no "game-changer", "revolutionary", "seamlessly". Never claim a result or statistic I did not give you. Second person to the listener, contractions allowed.
WHAT WE SELL AND FOR WHOM: {{describe}}
SHOW/NEWSLETTER, AUDIENCE AND HOST TONE: {{describe, paste a sample of their writing or a past read}}
SLOT LENGTH: {{e.g. 60 seconds}}
How to use it
Pasting a transcript of one of the host's past reads is what makes this sound like them instead of like an ad. It will not check whether your claims are legally sayable in your market - have someone read the final script.
