Write the follow-up after a demo that went well

Max Submitted by Max Added today
Here's what happened on the call: {{paste your notes or the transcript}}. Who was there: {{names and roles}}. What they said in their own words about the problem: {{quote it}}. What we agreed as the next step: {{or 'nothing specific', if that's the truth}}.

Write the follow-up email.

It must: open by referencing their specific situation, not the demo; restate the problem in their language so they can see we heard it; name only the two or three things from the demo that map to that problem — not everything we showed; confirm the next step with a date and an owner; and answer the open question we couldn't answer live, or say when we will.

Under 150 words. No recap paragraph, no attachment dump, no 'as discussed'.

Then give me: the separate short version to forward to the person who wasn't on the call, and — if no next step was agreed — the one question to ask instead of proposing one.

How to use it

Restating their problem in their words does more than any feature recap. It's also the fastest way to find out you misheard them.
